Acting Resumes

Acting resumes serve the same function as any resume ... they're your introduction to casting directors.

You want your resume to be clean, to the point, and informative. Try to keep it to a single page that summarizes your acting experience, your skills as an actor, your acting education, and your contact information. It should be accompanied by a head shot and a cover letter.

It's suggested that you staple your acting resume to the back of your head shot, using a single staple in the upper left-hand corner. This is for the convenience of the casting director, who often has to sort through hundreds of resumes and head shots at a time. You'll also want to trim the resume so that it's the same size as your head shot (8x10).

Be honest. Don't lie about your experience or your skills or your background. Sooner or later it will all come out and you'll never be trusted again.

Finally, if you're sending it out, make sure you have the right postage. An acting resume is just like any other form of mail, if there isn't enough postage it's returned to the sender.

Acting Resume Tips
A professional acting resume is a written copy of any previous acting work you might have done. In your resume make sure you list the roles you've played in movies, TV or plays, your training (if any) and all the special skills. Special skills may also include things like juggling and skateboarding. At the same time you do not have to list everything you’ve done but the most important roles and events first followed by others performances and emphasize on the key roles that you have performed.
